What is a QR code?
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that can be scanned using a smartphone camera or QR code reader. It can store various types of data such as URLs, text, contact information, or Wi-Fi network details.
How do I scan a QR code?
Most modern smartphones can scan QR codes directly using the built-in camera app. Simply open your camera, point it at the QR code, and a notification should appear. Alternatively, you can download a dedicated QR code scanner app from your app store.
What can I store in a QR code?
QR codes can store various types of data including website URLs, plain text, contact information (vCard), Wi-Fi network credentials, phone numbers, email addresses, and more. The amount of data is limited by the QR code version and error correction level.
What is error correction in QR codes?
Error correction allows a QR code to be read correctly even if parts of it are damaged or obscured. Higher error correction levels make the QR code more resilient but reduce the amount of data that can be stored. The levels are: Low (7%), Medium (15%), Quartile (25%), and High (30%).
Why should I add a margin around my QR code?
A margin (also called a quiet zone) around a QR code helps scanners distinguish the QR code from its surroundings. It's recommended to include a margin for better scanning reliability, especially when printing QR codes or placing them on busy backgrounds.
Can I customize the appearance of my QR code?
While our basic generator creates standard black and white QR codes, it's possible to customize QR codes with colors and logos. However, high customization may reduce readability. Always test customized QR codes with multiple devices to ensure they scan properly.
